
JW Marriott Goa has announced the appointment of Akshay Shetty as its new Director of Sales and Marketing, further strengthening the luxury resort’s leadership team as it continues to enhance its position in India’s premium hospitality landscape.
With more than 14 years of experience in luxury hospitality, business development, sales strategy and revenue management, Akshay brings a wealth of expertise to the role. He will lead the sales and marketing function at JW Marriott Goa, driving revenue growth, expanding market reach and developing innovative commercial strategies across key business segments.
Throughout his career, Akshay has built a strong reputation for delivering results in highly competitive hospitality markets. Having worked with leading Indian and international hotel brands, he has successfully led sales and business development teams, consistently achieving revenue targets, increasing market share and fostering long-term client relationships.
His expertise spans multiple areas of hotel operations, including revenue management, room sales, reservation sales and strategic business development. He has also played a key role in expanding business opportunities across major feeder markets in India, catering to diverse segments such as corporate travel, MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions), leisure tourism, destination weddings and the travel trade sector.

Adding further depth to his hospitality experience, Akshay has previously worked in front office operations, giving him valuable insight into both the commercial and operational aspects of hotel management. This well-rounded perspective enables him to create guest-focused strategies while driving strong business performance.
Prior to joining JW Marriott Goa, Akshay served at JW Marriott Mumbai Juhu, one of India’s most prominent luxury hotels. During his tenure, he led a high-performing sales team and played a significant role in strengthening the property’s group rooms and catering portfolio. His strategic approach, market expertise and ability to identify growth opportunities contributed to consistently strong commercial results.
In his new role, Akshay will focus on enhancing the hotel’s brand visibility, strengthening its luxury positioning and identifying new avenues for growth. He will also oversee sales planning and marketing initiatives aimed at maximizing revenue performance while elevating the guest experience.
Akshay holds a Bachelor’s degree in Hotel Management from Mangalore University and has received several prestigious industry recognitions. Among them are the BW Hotelier Sales Leader of the Year – West Zone award in 2024 and Marriott International’s highly regarded President’s Circle APEC Top Performer Award in both 2024 and 2025.
