Marriott International has announced the appointment of Elton Hurtis as General Manager of Sheraton Grand Bengaluru Whitefield Hotel & Convention Center, marking a fresh phase of leadership at one of the brand’s flagship properties in India.

In his new capacity, Elton will work toward strengthening the hotel’s standing as a leading destination in Bengaluru. His focus will center on driving operational excellence, building motivated teams, and delivering refined guest experiences designed to leave a lasting impression.

Commenting on his appointment, Elton Hurtis, General Manager, Sheraton Grand Bengaluru Whitefield Hotel & Convention Center said, “I am honoured to take on this role and look forward to working alongside the team to further strengthen Sheraton Grand Bengaluru Whitefield as a destination defined by warm service, empowered associates, and meaningful guest connections.”

Before taking on this role, Elton served as General Manager at Courtyard by Marriott Colombo, where he successfully managed a prominent five-star property within a landmark mixed-use complex. During his tenure, he enhanced the hotel’s market presence and reinforced its operational stability. His career also includes significant leadership roles at Sheraton Colombo, Weligama Bay Marriott Resort & Spa, and the pre-opening of Courtyard by Marriott Bhopal. Across these assignments, he consistently achieved strong guest satisfaction scores, nurtured effective owner relationships, and developed high-performing teams.

Known for his belief that great hospitality starts from within, Hurtis is respected for his people-first approach. He is committed to cultivating workplace cultures grounded in trust, accountability, and genuine care. His leadership style has continually contributed to strengthening brand identity while delivering thoughtful and personalized guest experiences.

With nearly 30 years in the hospitality industry—24 of them with Marriott International—Elton brings a wealth of experience shaped by a balance of strategic thinking and human connection. He is recognized for managing complex operations with composure, blending long-term vision with a hands-on, empathetic approach.

Elton is an alumnus of the Oberoi Centre of Learning and Development and the Institute of Hotel Management, Mumbai. He is ServSafe certified and was honored with the Best General Manager – Asia title at the World Luxury Hotel Awards in 2018. His career reflects a consistent commitment to building resilient, people-focused hotel environments that perform sustainably.

Outside of work, he is an avid wildlife photographer and a dedicated practitioner of taekwondo. He also values spending quality time with his family, bringing a sense of balance, creativity, and discipline to both his personal and professional life.
