Tourism Bhutan Appoints BlinkBrand Solutions as Official Representation Partner for India and MENA

Bhutan has taken another step towards shaping the next chapter of its tourism journey, with a renewed focus on strengthening key source markets and reaching travellers looking for more meaningful experiences in the Himalayan kingdom.

The Department of Tourism, Ministry of Industry, Commerce & Employment, Kingdom of Bhutan, has appointed BlinkBrand Solutions as its official Public Relations and Sales Representative for India and the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) markets. BlinkBrand Solutions is a destination representation company specialising in marketing, public relations and travel trade engagement.

The new partnership comes at an important time for Bhutan as the country works to grow tourism while staying true to its High Value, Low Volume approach. India remains Bhutan’s largest and one of its most important tourism markets, while the partnership will also focus on building awareness and demand across the fast-growing MENA region.

For Bhutan, the focus is not simply on increasing visitor numbers. The destination is looking to attract travellers who are interested in spending more time in the country, exploring beyond the well-known routes and discovering its culture, landscapes and communities at a deeper level.

The Bhutan Integrated Tourism Master Plan 2025 to 2034 sets out a long-term vision for tourism as a sustainable contributor to national development. The plan places emphasis on diversifying tourism, encouraging regional balance, protecting the environment and supporting regenerative tourism.

This approach is closely linked to Bhutan’s philosophy of Gross National Happiness (GNH), which remains central to the country’s tourism vision. By maintaining its High Value, Low Volume model, Bhutan aims to create tourism experiences that bring lasting benefits to local communities and the wider economy while protecting its cultural and natural heritage.

Damcho Rinzin, Director, Department of Tourism, Bhutan

Commenting on the appointment, Damcho Rinzin, Director, Department of Tourism, Bhutan, said, “This mandate represents more than a conventional destination marketing appointment. It is about moving beyond the conventional Bhutan itineraries and showcasing the breadth of experiences available across our Himalayan kingdom. Through this mandate, Blink will work towards strengthening Bhutan’s engagement with the travel trade, media, consumers and relevant travel communities, while highlighting Bhutan as a destination for wellness and spirituality, culture, nature and adventure, family travel, luxury, MICE and Destination Weddings, and also deeply immersive experiential journeys and slow travel.”

He further added, “India holds a unique and an advantageous place in Bhutan’s tourism ecosystem. As Bhutan’s closest neighbour and the largest source market, India consistently accounts for the largest share of annual arrivals into the Kingdom. In addition to the deep historical, cultural, spiritual and people-to-people ties, Bhutan and India have multiple direct flight routes and land border crossings that make Bhutan one of the most accessible international destinations for Indian travellers.”

For travellers seeking slower and more immersive journeys, the destination also offers an opportunity to explore Bhutan through its landscapes, traditions, communities and cultural experiences rather than following a standard sightseeing itinerary.

India continues to be a particularly important market for Bhutan due to the strong ties between the two countries, geographical proximity and established travel connections.

Speaking for BlinkBrand, Anisha Prakash, Head of Marketing and Strategic Alliances, said, “BlinkBrand is delighted to partner with the Department of Tourism, Bhutan, to support the continued growth of country’s tourism sector. Our focus will be on bringing the Kingdom’s evolving story and approach that is in sync with its wider national vision of growth to the right audiences across India and MENA region, building deeper engagement with the right trade, media and high-value traveller segments, build visitation while respecting the destination’s high-value, low-volume and regenerative tourism philosophy.”

As part of the partnership, BlinkBrand will draw on its expertise across destination marketing, public relations, media relations, travel trade engagement, consumer campaigns, storytelling, influencer marketing and experiential activations.

The aim will be to strengthen Bhutan’s presence across India and the MENA region while introducing travellers and the travel industry to a broader side of the destination. Beyond its iconic monasteries, Himalayan landscapes and cultural attractions, Bhutan is positioning itself for a wider range of travel segments, including luxury holidays, wellness retreats, spiritual journeys, family vacations, adventure travel, MICE, destination weddings and immersive slow travel.

With the new representation partnership, Bhutan is looking to build on this strong foundation while reaching new audiences and encouraging travellers to experience more of what the country has to offer. The focus remains on tourism growth that respects Bhutan’s culture, communities and environment, while creating meaningful experiences for visitors.
