SAS to Resume Nonstop Copenhagen - Mumbai Flights After 17 Years

Scandinavian Airlines, SAS, is set to reconnect Scandinavia and India with the launch of a new nonstop, year round service between Copenhagen and Mumbai from October 1, 2026.

With operational preparations now complete and flights open for sale, the new route marks SAS’ return to India after 17 years. The service will operate five times a week on an Airbus A330, creating a direct link between Copenhagen and Mumbai, one of India’s leading business and financial centres.

The new Copenhagen Mumbai flight is expected to support growing demand for business travel, leisure tourism and cultural exchange between India and Northern Europe. It will also give travellers a convenient direct option while strengthening connections between Scandinavia and India’s western region.

“We are absolutely thrilled to welcome passengers on board our new nonstop service to Mumbai. This strategic route represents an extraordinary milestone for SAS, opening effortless doors between Scandinavia and one of the world’s most dynamic economic hubs. As SAS celebrates 80 years of pioneering international travel, reconnecting our regions is a deeply proud moment for all of us, and we cannot wait to welcome our passengers on board as of October 1st,” says Paul Verhagen, Chief Commercial Officer at SAS.

The new SAS Mumbai route offers benefits for several segments of the travel industry.

For leisure travellers, the nonstop service makes it easier to explore Scandinavia and connect onwards to destinations across Europe and North America. For business travellers, the direct link between Mumbai and Copenhagen provides a valuable connection between two important commercial markets.

The route could also create new opportunities for the MICE sector, including corporate travel, incentives, conferences and business events. Tour operators and travel companies can use the new connection to develop India Scandinavia itineraries and promote two way tourism between the regions.

For Copenhagen Airport, the Mumbai service further strengthens its position as an international gateway, with onward connections to major SAS destinations including New York, Boston and Toronto.
