Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts has expanded its presence in Indonesia with the opening of Mövenpick Resort Carita. Located on the western coastline of the Banten province, this contemporary oceanfront property focuses on welcoming hospitality, local design, and shared experiences for families and travelers.
Carita is a well-known coastal getaway famous for its white-sand beaches and clear views of the Sunda Strait. Situated right on the shoreline, the resort sits about three hours outside of Jakarta, making it an accessible weekend escape from the capital city.
Modern Design Meets the Indonesian Coast
The architecture of the resort combines clean, modern lines with design elements inspired by the local Banten culture. The layout focuses on open, bright spaces that look out toward the sea, creating an inviting atmosphere throughout the property.
Mövenpick Resort Carita includes 219 rooms and suites. Every room comes with modern amenities and its own private balcony facing the water, giving guests a personal space to enjoy the coastal views.

Dining, Events, and Family Activities
Food and community are central to the experience at the new property. The resort features several distinct dining and social venues:
- Lagoon Restaurant: Serving a mix of traditional Indonesian dishes and classic Swiss favorites.
- Bluewave Lounge: Offering Italian-inspired menus in a relaxed setting.
- Pool Bar Oceana: A casual spot for drinks by the water.
- Seabreeze Golf & Bar: An interactive space equipped with a golf simulator and games.
Every afternoon, the resort also hosts Mövenpick’s signature Chocolate Hour, a brand tradition where guests can gather to taste a complimentary selection of chocolate treats.
For large gatherings, weddings, and business conferences, the property features the Samudera Grand Ballroom, which can host up to 1,700 people. The event space also includes the smaller Selat Sunda Ballroom and 10 flexible meeting rooms that utilize natural daylight.
On-site leisure facilities include an ocean-facing infinity pool, a separate children’s pool, the Little Birds Kids Club, a full-service spa, and a fitness center. Guests looking for outdoor activities can try archery, paintball, and ATV trail rides on the property.
Supporting Tourism in Banten
The new opening marks an important step in growing the region’s travel profile, drawing both local weekend travelers and international visitors to Banten’s beaches.
“With the opening of Mövenpick Resort Carita, we are further strengthening Accor’s presence in Indonesia’s coastal destinations, offering travellers new opportunities to explore beyond the country’s key gateways and discover its diverse leisure landscapes. We are confident the resort will resonate with both domestic and international guests, delivering Mövenpick’s distinctive approach to hospitality, where culinary excellence and meaningful human connection come together,” said Garth Simmons, Chief Operating Officer, Premium, Midscale & Economy Division, Accor Asia.
