Mandarin Oriental Appoints Mirko Cattini as General Manager of New Rome Hotel

Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group has appointed Mirko Cattini as the General Manager of Mandarin Oriental Rome, as the luxury hotel prepares for its highly anticipated opening in 2027.

Cattini joined the company on June 15 and will report to Flavia Caponi, Regional Vice President of Operations. His appointment marks another milestone as Mandarin Oriental continues to expand its luxury hotel portfolio in Italy and strengthen its presence across Europe’s high-end hospitality market.

Once open, Mandarin Oriental Rome will become the Group’s fifth property in Italy, joining Mandarin Oriental, Milan, Mandarin Oriental, Lago di Como, and the previously announced luxury developments in Cortina and Porto Cervo.

Cattini brings more than 25 years of international hospitality experience, having built an impressive career with some of the world’s leading luxury hotel brands, including Shangri-La Group, Dorchester Collection, Corinthia Hotels, Taj Hotels, and the Savoy Group, now known as Maybourne.

Throughout his career, he has held senior leadership positions across Europe and Asia, gaining extensive operational experience in destinations including Rome, London, Singapore, Bangkok, Cebu, and Mumbai. Most recently, Cattini served as General Manager of Hotel Eden Rome, where he led the property’s operations with a strong focus on personalized guest experiences, commercial growth and maintaining exceptional service standards.

Earlier in his career, he built a solid foundation in luxury hospitality through several senior food and beverage leadership roles at renowned hotels and resorts, giving him a well-rounded understanding of hotel operations.

Originally from Lake Como, Cattini holds professional certifications from the Hotel and Catering Institutional Management Association in London as well as Cornell University’s General Managers Program, further strengthening his leadership credentials in the luxury hospitality sector.

In his new role, he will oversee the hotel’s pre-opening phase before leading the official launch of Mandarin Oriental Rome, scheduled for 2027. His appointment reflects Mandarin Oriental’s continued investment in Italy, one of Europe’s most sought-after luxury travel destinations, as the Group prepares to introduce its signature hospitality and service to the heart of Rome.
