JW Marriott Mussoorie Walnut Grove Resort & Spa has announced the appointment of Manoj Kumar as its new Director of Finance, strengthening the leadership team at one of Uttarakhand’s leading luxury mountain resorts.

In his new role, Manoj will oversee the resort’s financial operations, including financial reporting, budgeting, audit coordination, regulatory compliance and capital expenditure planning. He will work closely with the General Manager and department heads to support the property’s long-term financial strategy and continued growth.

A Chartered Accountant with more than 12 years of experience in the hospitality industry, Manoj Kumar brings extensive expertise in financial management, compliance, budgeting, and operational planning. Kumar previously worked with JW Marriott Mussoorie Walnut Grove Resort & Spa between 2018 and 2021, where he played an important role in the resort’s finance team, contributing to financial operations and compliance processes.

Most recently, he served as Financial Controller at Jaipur Marriott Hotel, a position he held from June 2023. Before that, he was part of the leadership team at The Westin Himalayas Resort & Spa, further expanding his experience within Marriott International’s luxury hospitality portfolio.

Strong Track Record Across India’s Hospitality Industry

Over the course of his career, Kumar has built a diverse background across luxury hotels, airport hospitality and upscale resorts. His previous assignments include serving as Financial Controller at Ibis Pune Viman Nagar, Finance Manager at Niranta Airport Transit Hotel & Lounge, and holding several progressively senior finance positions at Crowne Plaza New Delhi Rohini, where he advanced from General Ledger Executive to Assistant Manager – Finance.

Working across different hospitality segments has equipped him with a broad understanding of hotel finance, operational efficiency and business planning.

Expertise in Financial Strategy and Operational Excellence

Throughout his career, Kumar has developed expertise across key areas of hospitality finance, including audit management, internal controls, taxation, budgeting, variance analysis, financial reporting, and ERP implementation. His focus on operational efficiency has also produced measurable business results.

Kumar earned his Chartered Accountant qualification from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) in November 2011 and completed his IFRS certification through ICAI in December 2012. He also holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Delhi.

His technical expertise includes several hospitality-focused financial and operational platforms, including PeopleSoft, Sun Systems, Opera, FMC and Tally, enabling him to manage complex financial environments across luxury hotel operations.

As Director of Finance, Kumar will be responsible for guiding the finance function at JW Marriott Mussoorie Walnut Grove Resort & Spa, overseeing financial reporting, budgeting, audit coordination, regulatory compliance and capital expenditure planning while supporting the resort’s strategic objectives.
