Mandarin Oriental, Bangkok has appointed Paul Jones as its new General Manager, bringing him back to the iconic riverside hotel where his journey with the Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group began more than 20 years ago.

Jones returns to Bangkok at a significant moment for the property, as Mandarin Oriental, Bangkok celebrates its 150th anniversary. The milestone marks 150 years of hospitality at one of the world’s most renowned hotels and adds special significance to Jones’ return.

Jones previously served as Hotel Manager at Mandarin Oriental, Bangkok between 2005 and 2008. Since then, he has taken on senior leadership roles across Asia and Europe, building extensive experience with Mandarin Oriental properties around the world.

His career as General Manager has included leadership positions at Mandarin Oriental, Singapore, Mandarin Oriental, Taipei, Mandarin Oriental, Tokyo, and most recently Mandarin Oriental, Geneva.

Built in 1876 and set along the banks of the Chao Phraya River, Mandarin Oriental, Bangkok has welcomed travellers for generations. The 331-room hotel combines its long history with luxury hospitality and is home to 11 restaurants and bars. Its dining collection ranges from traditional Thai cuisine to Michelin-starred French fine dining at Le Normandie, making it a notable destination for food lovers visiting Bangkok.

Jones brings more than three decades of hospitality experience across Europe, the Middle East and Asia. Before joining Mandarin Oriental, he served as General Manager of The Oberoi Rajvilas and The Oberoi Vanyavilas in Rajasthan. Earlier in his career, he held several leadership positions in the Middle East and London.

With his return to Bangkok, Jones takes on the leadership of a hotel with a long-standing place in the city’s hospitality landscape. His extensive international experience and previous connection with the property come at a landmark year as Mandarin Oriental, Bangkok looks ahead to the next chapter of its 150-year history.
