The Supervisory Board of Berlin Tourismus & Kongress GmbH has appointed Dr Jürgen Amann as the new Managing Director for Destination Marketing & Commercial, effective 1 June 2026. The 53-year-old will succeed Burkhard Kieker, who is set to retire upon reaching the statutory age limit when his contract concludes in the summer of 2026.

Currently serving as Managing Director of KölnTourismus GmbH since February 2020, Dr Amann was selected following a highly competitive recruitment process involving more than 100 candidates. Holding a doctorate in economic geography, he brings extensive expertise in destination management, tourism strategy, and commercial development.

Born in Upper Bavaria, Dr Amann’s professional journey includes senior roles in Ingolstadt and Dresden, before moving to Cologne. His appointment signals a strategic step forward for Berlin’s destination marketing and tourism growth initiatives.

Oliver Schumacher, Chairman of the Supervisory Board, has expressed: “With Jürgen Amann, we have brought a proven tourism professional on board. Together with the second managing director, Sabine Wendt, the two will form a strong duo and promote Berlin as one of the world’s leading destinations. There is much to be done, such as consistent digitalisation and increasing own revenue.”
