Etihad Airways has announced the launch of direct flights to Luxembourg, marking a significant milestone in its European expansion. From 29 October 2026, the Abu Dhabi-based carrier will become the first airline from the Middle East to operate services to Luxembourg and the only airline offering nonstop connectivity between Luxembourg and Abu Dhabi.
The new route creates a direct air bridge between two strategically important regions, catering to rising demand from travellers in Luxembourg as well as neighbouring Belgium, France and Germany. Operating into Luxembourg Airport (LUX), the service offers seamless access to Abu Dhabi, the UAE’s capital known for its rich culture, world-class hospitality, modern attractions and year-round sunshine.
Flights will operate three times a week using Etihad’s next-generation Airbus A321LR, designed to deliver a premium long-haul experience on narrowbody aircraft. Guests can expect Etihad’s signature three-class configuration, featuring private First Suites, fully lie-flat Business Class seats with direct aisle access, and a thoughtfully designed Economy cabin. Economy travellers will enjoy generous legroom, 4K touchscreen entertainment with Bluetooth connectivity, and high-speed Wi-Fi available throughout the aircraft.
The Luxembourg service strengthens connectivity for both business and leisure travellers while supporting deeper economic and cultural ties between Europe and the UAE. With Luxembourg also serving as a key financial and business hub, the route is expected to appeal strongly to corporate travellers seeking efficient, direct access to Abu Dhabi.
Antonoaldo Neves, Chief Executive Officer at Etihad Airways, said: “We are delighted to announce this landmark route, made possible by the launch of the A321LR last year. This incredible aircraft brings our guests a truly premium experience while allowing us to cater to markets which may otherwise be unserved. For the first time, Luxembourg will be directly connected to the Middle East, with Etihad as the only airline offering a nonstop link to Abu Dhabi.
“This route is about more than connectivity – it is about building new bridges between Europe and the UAE, unlocking opportunities for business, tourism and cultural exchange. Travellers from Luxembourg can look forward to convenient direct access to Abu Dhabi’s world-class attractions, luxury hotels and authentic Arabian experiences, while benefiting from seamless onward connections across our global network.”
Leisure travellers flying from Europe will gain easy access to Abu Dhabi’s growing portfolio of attractions, including cultural landmarks such as the Louvre Abu Dhabi and Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, as well as upcoming institutions like the Zayed National Museum and Natural History Museum. Yas Island’s entertainment offerings, pristine beaches and desert landscapes further enhance the destination’s appeal.
The route also provides convenient onward connections via Zayed International Airport (AUH) to Etihad’s global network, including popular destinations across Asia such as Thailand, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, Indonesia and India.
At the same time, travellers from Abu Dhabi and across Etihad’s network will be able to explore Luxembourg, known for its UNESCO-listed Old Town, storybook castles, scenic valleys and blend of historic charm with modern European sophistication.
The addition of Luxembourg underscores Etihad Airways’ continued growth across Europe, reinforcing its commitment to expanding global connectivity while delivering a premium, customer-focused travel experience.
