Ltd. This strategic move reinforces the group’s commitment to accelerating growth in one of its most influential and fast-evolving regions. In addition to leading regional operations, Chin will join Kempinski’s Group Executive Committee, playing a pivotal role in shaping the brand’s long-term direction, expansion pipeline, and business transformation across Greater China and Mongolia.
The announcement comes at a defining moment for Kempinski, as the group enters a new era of development in China. With the luxury travel market experiencing major shifts driven by new consumer expectations, Kempinski is doubling down on its strategy to diversify its portfolio and strengthen its presence. Plans include expanding its Chinese heritage luxury offerings and launching a contemporary lifestyle brand designed for the next generation of travelers—an approach that blends the company’s classic European elegance with modern, culturally attuned innovation.
Alan Chin brings a wealth of experience to the role, with more than 20 years spent across hospitality and real estate in Greater China. His strong track record in operations, development, and investment positions him well to guide Kempinski’s growth in the region. His career includes senior positions at Accor Hotels and the China Hospitality Fund, where he supported large-scale project development and strategic site acquisition. Chin later joined Banyan Tree Hotels & Resorts, spending 15 transformative years in leadership roles including Chief Executive Officer and Board Director of Banyan Tree China, as well as Senior Vice President of Banyan Tree Holdings. Across these posts, he led portfolio expansion, brand strategy, and operational performance within China’s competitive luxury hospitality landscape.
In his new role at Kempinski, Chin will focus on reinforcing the brand’s luxury identity while driving forward-looking initiatives that respond to evolving guest expectations. This includes exploring new market opportunities, establishing key partnerships, and ensuring that every property in Greater China and Mongolia upholds Kempinski’s hallmark standards of service, craftsmanship, and cultural immersion.
A Beijing native, Chin holds a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Beijing University of Technology and is fluent in both Mandarin and English, bringing the cultural fluency and global mindset needed to guide Kempinski’s next chapter in the region.
