Lemala Camps & Lodges has completed the renovation of Lemala Kuria Hills Lodge in Tanzania, introducing a new two bedroom family suite, a relocated spa and an expanded main dining tent.

Located in the Northern Serengeti, the luxury safari lodge has updated several of its existing spaces while keeping its established footprint intact. The approach reflects Lemala’s focus on improving the guest experience without expanding further into the surrounding wilderness.

Set among the granite boulders and green kopjes of Wogakuria Hill, Lemala Kuria Hills Lodge sits within a landscape of rolling grasslands, open woodland and tree lined watercourses. The area supports abundant wildlife throughout the year and offers access to some of Tanzania’s most sought after safari experiences.

The lodge is also close to the Mara River and the main Great Migration route during the traditional July to October season. During the November to April green season, southern areas of the Serengeti become lush and vibrant, coinciding with the annual calving season, when thousands of wildebeest and zebra are born and predators follow the herds.

“This renovation was about looking at what Kuria Hills already does so well and finding thoughtful ways to enhance it, rather than adding more to the landscape. By reimagining existing spaces, we have been able to create a more flexible offering for families while also improving the spa and dining experiences, all within the lodge’s established footprint,” says Leanne Haigh, CEO of Lemala Camps & Lodges.

A New Two Bedroom Family Suite

The renovation was carried out during the lodge’s annual March to May closure, allowing the team to make major improvements while preserving the intimate character of the property.

One of the biggest additions is the new two bedroom family suite, created on the site previously occupied by the spa. The accommodation has been designed as a contemporary extension of Kuria Hills’ existing style, with modern interiors, spacious living areas and a private plunge pool.

The suite provides families and groups travelling together with more space and flexibility, making it particularly suited to multi generational holidays. Parents and children can stay close while still having separate bedrooms and private areas.

The new accommodation also adds to the family friendly offering across Lemala Camps & Lodges’ Tanzania portfolio, where two bedroom accommodation is available at several properties.

Children are welcome at Kuria Hills, giving families the opportunity to experience the Northern Serengeti together while enjoying the comfort and privacy of a dedicated suite.

Spa Relocated and Dining Space Expanded

The lodge’s spa has moved to a new location within the property, creating a dedicated setting for treatments and wellness experiences. The change also made it possible to transform the former spa area into the new family suite.

Another key update is the redesign and extension of the main dining tent. The additional space improves the movement between the dining area, bar and nearby guest spaces while retaining the open views of the surrounding wilderness.

These changes build on the existing character of Lemala Kuria Hills rather than changing the identity of the safari lodge.

Luxury Safari in the Northern Serengeti

Kuria Hills is known for its glass fronted tented suites, which are positioned among the large granite boulders and kopjes of the Northern Serengeti. The accommodation combines contemporary interiors with African design details, while shared spaces open towards the surrounding grasslands.

The lodge’s location makes it a strong base for exploring the Northern Serengeti and experiencing Tanzania’s wildlife across different seasons. Guests can head out on guided game drives, walking safaris and hot air balloon safaris, with the region’s relatively low visitor numbers offering opportunities to experience the Serengeti away from some of the busier safari areas.

The Northern Serengeti is particularly well known during the Great Migration, but wildlife viewing remains rewarding outside the migration months. The green season brings fresh vegetation and the annual calving period, creating another compelling time to visit.

The completed renovation gives Lemala Kuria Hills Lodge a refreshed offering while retaining the wilderness setting and sense of space that have long defined the property. The new two bedroom family suite is now available for bookings, giving families and groups another way to experience a luxury safari in Tanzania while staying connected to the landscapes and wildlife of the Northern Serengeti.
