Hyatt Hotels Corporation has announced the opening of THE BARAI HUA HIN, introducing The Unbound Collection by Hyatt to Thailand for the first time. Located on Hua Hin’s iconic Khao Takiap coastline, the new beachfront luxury resort combines wellness, Thai heritage, contemporary architecture and elevated hospitality in one of the country’s most celebrated seaside destinations.

The 98-room resort builds on the legacy of THE BARAI, which has been recognized internationally for its wellness offerings for two decades. Now reimagined as a full-service luxury retreat, the property offers guests an immersive experience centered on relaxation, wellbeing and the Thai philosophy of Sanook (สนุก)—the joy of embracing life.

Long before wellness tourism became a global trend, Hua Hin had already established itself as a destination for rest and rejuvenation. Originally a fishing village known as Ban Samor Riang, the town became a favored seaside retreat for Thai royalty in the early 1900s. Its beaches, refreshing sea breeze and relaxed coastal atmosphere continue to attract travelers seeking both luxury and tranquility.

THE BARAI HUA HIN first opened 20 years ago as a destination spa, earning worldwide recognition for blending traditional Thai healing practices with modern Western wellness therapies. Its transformation into a boutique beachfront resort marks the next chapter in its evolution, offering guests a complete wellness-focused escape.

“At THE BARAI HUA HIN, every stay is designed to unfold at the guest’s own rhythm,” said Marco Avitabile, General Manager of THE BARAI HUA HIN. “Our philosophy is rooted in Sanook, the belief that joy, ease and delight should be part of life’s most meaningful moments. Whether guests come for deep rest, movement, spa rituals, culinary discovery or time by the sea, we invite them to experience renewal in a way that feels personal, memorable and entirely their own.”

Beyond the resort, guests can discover some of Thailand’s most remarkable natural attractions, including Kui Buri National Park, Khao Sam Roi Yot National Park, and the spectacular Phraya Nakhon Cave, before returning to a peaceful beachfront sanctuary.

The design of THE BARAI HUA HIN reflects the four natural elements—water, fire, earth and air. Renowned architect Lek Mathar Bunnag has reimagined traditional Thai architecture through a contemporary perspective, creating spaces that encourage reflection and connection with nature.

Shaded walkways, sculptural structures, open courtyards and flowing water features shape the guest experience throughout the property.

The resort also features two distinctive swimming pools. The Forest Pool offers a lush, lagoon-inspired setting surrounded by tropical greenery, while the Beach Pool overlooks the Gulf of Thailand, providing uninterrupted ocean views.

THE BARAI HUA HIN features 98 guest rooms and suites, including 27 luxury suites and two exclusive two-bedroom penthouses. Designed to maximize natural light and tropical views, each accommodation includes spacious private balconies, deep soaking bathtubs, rainforest showers and open-plan living areas.

Guests booking premium suites also enjoy additional benefits, including butler service, expansive private terraces, in-suite wellness rituals and daily massage experiences for a more personalized stay.

At the center of the resort is THE BARAI Spa, named after the ancient water reservoirs, or barays, that once sustained great civilizations. Stone pathways, reflection pools and peaceful courtyards create an environment dedicated to relaxation and holistic wellbeing. The resort also houses a two-story Wellness Hub, featuring a 24-hour fitness center, yoga studio, holistic wellness zone and wellness retail space.

Programs are built around the property’s elemental philosophy, encouraging guests to reconnect through Earth for grounding, Water for release, Air for vitality and Fire for momentum.

Signature wellness programs focus on women’s health, sleep recovery, back care, longevity, emotional wellbeing and heart health, with each guest receiving a personalized wellness map.

The Wellness Hub is led by CM.D. Chuthamat Srinoi, known as Dr. Cash, an integrated wellness practitioner who combines traditional Chinese medicine, sound vibration, energy healing and mindful art into tailored wellness experiences.

Dining at THE BARAI HUA HIN is led by Chef Benn Rowe, whose culinary career spans acclaimed restaurants across Australia and Thailand. His menus celebrate seasonal ingredients, fresh seafood and coastal flavors inspired by Hua Hin.

White Cottage pays tribute to the historic seaside homes once owned by Siamese nobility. Built using preserved timber from Ban Chom Khluen, meaning “Seeing the Wave,” the restaurant serves breakfast before transforming into an elegant dining venue showcasing seafood, Thai-inspired cuisine and plant-forward dishes.

Meanwhile, McFarland House occupies a restored 19th-century beachfront pavilion overlooking the Gulf of Thailand. Once home to Dr. George Bradley McFarland, an influential figure in Thailand’s medical and educational history, it now offers Modern European cuisine, grilled specialties, weekday afternoon tea and one of Hua Hin’s best-known Sunday brunch experiences.

The opening of THE BARAI HUA HIN marks an important milestone for Hyatt, introducing The Unbound Collection by Hyatt to Thailand for the first time.

Known for its portfolio of independent luxury hotels with distinctive identities and strong local connections, the brand continues to expand globally with properties that celebrate culture, heritage and destination-driven experiences.

As Hyatt grows its luxury and lifestyle portfolio, THE BARAI HUA HIN adds a new wellness-focused destination shaped by Thai hospitality, striking architecture, coastal beauty and the spirit of Sanook.

The Unbound Collection by Hyatt is also expected to expand further this year with the opening of Cayo Levantado in the Dominican Republic and The Clayfield in Canada.
