
MARSS unveils a major step forward in its AI-enhanced Command and Control capabilities: Autonomous Mission Management (AMM), a unique new feature within its NiDAR platform.
Following this upgrade, NiDAR can display feeds from aerial drones, USVs and UGVs directly into its single screen, utilised as roaming sensor stations or outposts. Not only that, but NiDAR can also directly task, deploy, and recover uncrewed assets autonomously, without pilot input – all from within the platform itself. This is a multi-domain capability representing a major step forward in multi-domain layered defence.
Rob Balloch, Chief Growth Officer at MARSS, said: “NiDAR’s AMM isn’t just an incremental step – it’s a huge capability leap in the C4 space. For the first time, we can manage available resources and task multiple assets to fly, drive or sail a mission, patrol, or intercept profile with a simple tap on the screen, and then seamlessly fuse the data they gather back into the wider operational picture. This isn’t just situational awareness – it’s a whole new way of thinking about how AI can transform what autonomous platforms deliver.”
NiDAR automatically takes in sensor feeds from uncrewed assets and fuses them with data from other sources. One of the results of this is precise geolocation of threats on a live operational map. Where other systems require operators to manually verify and correlate video feeds, NiDAR does the work for you: autonomously marking objects and presenting verified positions for faster, more accurate decision-making.

Crucially, this architecture is multi-domain. It can manage UAVs for border patrols, USVs for maritime surveillance, or UGVs for expeditionary operations – allowing commanders to extend their layered defence with autonomous assets across air, land, surface and subsurface environments. In NiDAR, an uncrewed vehicle is not just a platform: it becomes an intelligent autonomous sensor within the wider defence ecosystem.
Nor is it just sensor stations that are controllable through NiDAR. Effector nodes can also be queued, directed and managed seamlessly, directly through the platform – while ensuring that human operators always retain final trigger authority.
